Hi, in the past zip archives were unreliable. Sometimes they’d pass, sometimes they’d fail, and sometimes they’d say “pass” but the archive would be too small to actually have an entire site in them. For example, on the same day from a fairly static site,
2019-11-27 17:41 zip 191.78MB 20191127b_xxx
2019-11-27 16:37 zip 127.75MB 20191127_xxx
And unfortunately, there was no way to test these two archives, to determine what was missing. In this case, both were completed with PASS on the banner, suggesting that both were full archives.
So my question: Are DAF more reliable? What are the disadvantages to archiving to DAF? If there are no disadvantages and they are more reliable, then why aren’t DAF the default? There must be some advantage to ZIP, otherwise, DAF would be the preferred method, no?
